As Hurricane Dorian continues to wreak havoc in the Bahamas, Rihanna is already looking for ways to help the devastated areas through her Clara Lionel Foundation.

The Clara Lionel Foundation, which funds emergency response programs, was founded by the pop star in 2012 in honor of her grandparents, Clara and Lionel Braithwaite.

On Monday, the Barbados native tweeted her support for the Bahamian people.

Hurricane Dorian slammed on the Bahamas at Category 5 on Sunday. For more than 40 hours, the natural disaster moved southeast at only one mile per hour.

Red Cross spokesman Matthew Cochrane, a spokesman for Red Cross, revealed about 45% of the homes in Grand Bahama and Abaco were believed to have been severely damaged or destroyed. More than 60,000 people in the Carribbean will need food, and 62,000 will need clean drinking water.

Reports confirm at least five people have been killed in what Prime Minister Hubert Minnis is calling a historic tragedy.

Rihanna’s  work to help hurricane victims is just the latest humanitarian work from the Grammy winner.

In 2017, Harvard University presented her with their Humanitarian of the Year Award for her support to enrich education and health care advocacy in the Carribean. The 31-year-old also contributed to hurricane relief efforts after Harvey, Irma and Maria.

Though the storm has been downgraded to a Category 2, experts forecast the hurricane will ensure more damage as it heads towards southeast Florida.
