The Coalition of Rotation Nurses and Midwives has given government and other stakeholders in the health sector a one-month ultimatum to address the allowance issues confronting members or risk a complete withdrawal of service by members of the association.

The coalition claim its members have not been paid since April 2019.

In an interview with The Ghana Report, the President of the Coalition, Abubakar Kabore Issa revealed the coalition has met the Deputy Minister for Health, Tina Gifty Naa Ayeley Mensah on countless occasions with regard to the issue.

“The Deputy Minister assured us the nurses will be paid so we were expecting the Ministry to begin the necessary preparations to clear the arrears but nothing has been done as we speak now, ” Mr. Issa stressed.

He noted, “Ideally when you start your rotation, you will do a biometric verification and then there will be a clearance which means that you are going to be paid but none of these things have been done yet.”

Mr. Issa further said the coalition is convinced that the government has not given their issue the necessary attention.

The coalition is a group of rotation nurses and midwives recruited by the government after training to do a year long mandatory service.

The government is yet to pay them since they begun working in April 2019, independent checks by The Ghana Report have revealed.
