The Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, has reacted to reports on huge amounts of money stolen from her house.
Court documents indicate that two of her house helps allegedly stole a huge sum of money and some valuable items in her home.
The house helps allegedly bolted with an amount of US$1 million, €300,000, and millions of Ghana Cedis from the minister and her husband in their home at Abelemkpe, a suburb of Accra.
The reports have sparked various reactions from the public, with some members of the Minority Caucus in Parliament calling for a probe and the minister’s dismissal.
But the minister, in a statement dated Friday, July 21, 2023, said, “There are noticeable inconsistencies between what is being discussed in the public domain and the thrust of the original complaint on the matter”.
“I am taking steps to examine the origins of the inconsistencies and will provide a detailed response in the coming days,” the statement said.
