Some parts of the country’s capital, Accra, will experience temporary traffic disruption today [Friday, March 25, 2022] ahead of an ECOWAS Extraordinary Session.

This was contained in a statement released on Thursday and signed by the Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, DCOP Kwesi Ofori.

The road closure is to facilitate the movement of heads of states and governments of ECOWAS states who will be participating in the extraordinary session in Accra.

The Liberation road from the Airport traffic light through Opebia towards the Independence Avenue will be affected.

Th road from Kempiski Hotel to National Theatre on Independence Avenue, through the Ako Adjei Interchange, will also be blocked temporarily.

Diversions will be created for the free flow of traffic to make up for the inconvenience motorists will face.

Among the arrangements made, the police say motorists plying Independence Avenue will be diverted onto the Liberation Road at the National Theatre to link up with the Ring Road towards Osu and connect with Dr Hilla Liman High Street Kanda towards Madina.

Police visibility would be prominent in the aforementioned areas to reduce the impact on road users, and also maintain order.
