Social media accounts in my name are fake- Abena Osei-Asare

Deputy Minister of Finance, Mrs. Abena Osei-Asare has issued a disclaimer on several fake social media accounts that bear her name and has called on the public to disregard all statements from those accounts.

She revealed that a new twitter account bearing the name of a certain “Jacob Akromah” with the phone number: 0593503287 advertised as the protocol appointing co-ordinator of the Deputy Minister is also fake and could be used to defraud unsuspecting people.

Mrs. Osei-Asare, also Member of Parliament for Atiwa East has subsequently reported these fake accounts to security services to take further action.

She has also cautioned the general public to avoid all transactions on social media with such persons.

“My attention has been drawn to several fake Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin accounts bearing my name.

The latest of these is a Twitter Account by which a certain Jacob Akromah… with phone number 0593503287 is advertised as my Protocol Appointment Coordinator.

These accounts do not belong to me nor are they connected to me in any way.

The accounts are used to defraud and rob unsuspecting members of the public of their money by promising jobs, contracts, and other favours all of which are fraudulent.

I have reported these to the websites concerned and also to the security agencies who are making efforts to apprehend the rogues and stop them.

In the meantime, the general public is to take note and is warned to avoid all such transactions on social media with persons purporting to be Abena Osei-Asare and that all who transact any business with such rogues on social media do so at their own risk”.
