The Breman Asikuma police have arrested three suspected armed robbers, including one female, for snatching a taxi on the Breman Kokoso-Amanfopong road in the Central Region.

According to reports, Ruth Agyapong, the female ringleader, hired a Toyota Yaris taxi with registration number GC-6553-21 on Sunday, April 16, 2023.

Upon reaching a cemetery along the Breman Kokoso-Amanfopong stretch, she stopped the driver to negotiate the fare with him.

While negotiating, her two accomplices emerged from the cemetery and started firing gunshots into the air.

They reportedly forced the driver out, took his mobile phones and money, tied him with a rope, and sped off with the car.

A good Samaritan returning from the farm met the taxi driver still lying at the cemetery in bondage.

He untied the victim and assisted him in reporting the incident to the police, who started an investigation immediately.

The investigation led to the arrest of Ruth Agyapong at her hideout.

The retrieved pistol

While searching her hotel room, police retrieved one pistol, live bullets, a military uniform, a knife, scissors, and other weapons.

She later led the police to arrest the other suspects, Edward and William Kissi.

The suspects are in the custody of the Breman Asikuma District Police Command for further investigation.
