Suspects in Awutu Senya disturbance granted bail

The three suspects involved in a disturbance at the Electoral Commission (EC) office at Ofaakor in the Central Region have been granted bail.

They were arrested on Sunday, June 2, 2024, over a firearm discovered by police.

A pump action gun with four rounds of ammunition was found in their Honda CRV saloon car with registration number GX-2044-19.

The suspects are Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunnor, Mustapha Mohammed and Abdul Aziz Musah.

Okunnor was cautioned on the offence of transfer of firearms without authority.

Musah and Mohammed were cautioned on the offence of possession of firearms without authority.

Earlier, the court remanded Usman Haruna, alleged to have stabbed Ato Koomson, Hawa Koomson’s son, during the disturbance at the EC office at Ofaakor.

He is to reappear on June 19, 2024.

Meanwhile, police investigations are ongoing, while the case docket has been forwarded to the Office of the Attorney-General for study and advice.
