Timaya sets sights on a billion dollars with new single, get my money right

Timaya has had a stellar year with Cold Outside still dominating global charts and his last album “Gratitude” still getting various nominations across the continent almost two years after release.

He recently crowned that success with the iconic Ferrari 458 and a majestic penthouse mansion in Ikoyi.

Timaya is currently all about securing the bag as he follows up all the success with his new single fittingly titled “Get My Money Right”.

The song depicts where Timaya is currently in his career, which is a square focus on his music and Getting his Money Right while avoiding any distractions or hate from the public generally.

Besides getting his money right, Timaya is not bothered about much else as he states in the song “Wait till I get the money right. Live My Life, I no follow you dey fight. You are gonna hate.

Timaya began his music career after several years of collaborative work with  Eedris Abdulkareem’s hip-hop ensemble, he launched his first solo song “Dem Mama” in 2005, which was also included on his first album, “True Story,” which was published in 2007. In 2008, he published his second album, titled “Gift and Grace.” Following that, his success grew.

In 2008, he bagged two awards “Album of the Year” at Nigeria Music Awards and “Best Reggae/Dancehall album” at the Headies Awards. At the 2009 edition of The Headies, he also won two awards: “Best Reggae/Dancehall Album” for Gift and Grace and “Best Collaboration” for his appearance on J Martins’ “Good or Bad.”

He later released his third album, “De Rebirth,” on which he worked with 2face Idibia, TJ 2Solo, Allenian, Konga, Lanre, M.I, TJ, and Wrecoba. However, in 2010, he was featured on the song “Kokoroko” by female gospel musician Kefee, which went on to win in the “Best Collaboration” category at the 2010 Headies Awards.

With a succession of guest appearances and collaborations, he released ‘’LLNP,” an acronym for Long Life N Prosperity, in 2011, ‘’Upgrade,” a 14-track album in June 2012 that generated noteworthy singles including “Bum-Bum,” “Sexy Ladies,” and “Malonogede,” as well as ‘’Epiphany,” in 2014. Timaya headlined the inaugural Afro-Soca Concert in Nassau, Bahamas, in 2017.

Timaya released an EP named Chulo Vibes in 2019 after five years of releasing singles and touring. East African musician Alikiba, Trinidadian Soca Legend Machel Montano, and Nigeria’s Burna Boy all collaborated on the project’s extended play.

His 2020 ‘’Gratitude’’ album is a 49-minutes play project dubbed with 15 wonderful tunes.
