The Adeiso police have arrested a driver for raping a 16-year-old passenger at Kwasi Tenten in the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality, Eastern region.

According to reports, the driver, identified as Kofi Baah, held the victim, a senior high school student, at knifepoint while she was coming home from school.

She was on a commercial bus from the Volta Region to Adeiso-Amakurowm when all the other passengers alighted at Nsawam, leaving her alone with the driver.

The driver then pulled a knife and threatened to harm her if she did not allow him to sleep with her.

In fear for her life, she reluctantly gave in.

He then pushed her out of the vehicle and drove off after he allegedly raped her.

In pain, she managed to find her way home and reported her ordeal to her family.

The family immediately reported the case to the Adeiso police, who launched an investigation into it.

Sources close to the case said the father of the victim, who is a police officer, also mounted a search for the driver.

He apprehended him on Monday, April 22, 2024, and handed him to the Adeiso police.

In a separate story which is also related to rape, police arrested three male juveniles, aged between 15 and 17 years, for allegedly gang-defiling a 15-year-old girl at Aboabo Junior High School in the Akuapim North Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The victim, who lived with her 63-year-old grandfather, had gone to her friend’s (one of the suspects’) house with her younger sister in the evening to borrow his book.

The two other suspects later joined, and together, they bundled her up into a nearby bush and took turns raping her.

In the struggling process, the victim managed to yell a call for assistance and was rescued by a nearby couple, who promptly brought her to the families of the boys and eventually to the police station.
