The sanitation problem in Accra is becoming disappointing as it poses serious health threats to residents.
Opposite the Paloma Hotel at the Ring Road Central, lies the handiwork of unidentified citizens, a huge gutter well-known to commuters of that road for its unavoidable stench and tons of waste material.
Walking past the tarred path beside the gutter, the Ghana Report took footage of a huge pile of garbage in the gutter.
The team observed that many plastic bottles, takeaway packs, pure water sachets, polythene bags, and all kinds of waste had choked the gutter.
The gutter extends from Nima through to Asylum Down and finally into the Odaw River at Circle.
The situation, an embarrassing scene that has been ignored by sanitation authorities is making life uncomfortable for residents. For residents, the fight against indiscriminate dumping of refuse into the gutter seems to be yielding no positive results.
