You can’t be born again and still wear make-up – Pastor tells Chidinma

A Nigerian pastor Victor Edet has lashed out at gospel musician Chidinma Ekile for wearing make-up.

“You can’t be born again and still wear make-up, earrings, eyelash, false nails, weave-on, attachment, rings and trousers. Those things are from Satan, and it is of the world,” he noted.

The 30-year-old singer announced her conversion from secular music into full-time ministry on her birthday, May 2, 2021.

But few weeks after the announcement, Evangelist Edet is not convinced.

He believes her conversion must reflect in her way of life.

“The way you dress in the world shouldn’t be the same way you should dress in the Lord. There must be a change if you have truly encountered the Lord,” he wrote in a Facebook post.

The clergyman stressed that Christians must exhibit change both inwardly and outwardly.

The singer has also rebranded her Instagram page by deleting previous photos and albums associated with her past secular songs.

Chidinma won the hearts of many with her sonorous voice when she emerged winner of the music talent show ‘Project Fame’ in 2010.

She would later be known as Ms Kedike following her 2012 hit song ‘Kedike’ off her debut album ‘Chidinma’.

Chidinma’s music career began on a fiery note with her debut single ‘Jankoliko’ featuring Sound Sultan in 2011.

At the 2012 edition of the KORA Awards, she won Best Female West African Act. She was also nominated for Best Female Act at the 2014 MTV Africa Music Awards.

Chidinma is currently signed to Eezee Concepts, which is also home to popular gospel sensation Mercy Chinwo.

She has released her debut gospel song, “Jehovah Overdo.”
