A two-year-old girl has died after falling into an ancient manhole at Accra-Town in Nkawkaw of the Eastern Region.
The incident happened on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
According to reports, the young girl fell into a water-filled manhole while playing near her home.
She had returned from school and was waiting for her grandmother to serve her meal.
Information gathered indicates that the girl’s grandmother, upon hearing the news, collapsed and was rushed to the hospital.
The manhole, which dates back over a century to the construction of the house, was only covered by a large black polythene bag, posing a grave danger to anyone near it.
Authorities are investigating the accident.
