2023 AFCON qualifiers: CAF appoints NFF chief as match commissioner for Ghana v CAR game
The Confederation of African Football has appointed Nigeria Football Federation Sanusi Mohammed as the Match Commissioner for Ghana’s final round of games of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against the Central African Republic in September.
Ghana will host CAR at the Baba Yara Stadium on September 7 at 16:00GMT, a game that the Black Stars need a draw or a win to secure a place for the tournament that will be hosted in Ivory Coast next year.
Meanwhile, Peter Waweru Kamaru, a University lecturer from Kenya will be the centre referee of the game.
He will be assisted by compatriots Gilbert Kipkoech Cheruiyot (Assistant I), and Stephen Eleazar Onyango Yiembe (Assistant II) while Omar Abdulkadir Artan from Somalia works as Fourth Official.
Aside from Sanusi Mohammed, Fatou Gaye from Senegal as Referee Assessor. Ghana’s Dr. Christiana Baah and Frederick Acheampong will work as Medical Officer and Pre-match Ceremony Coordinators respectively.
The Black Stars sit on top of Group E with 9 points – 1 point ahead of second-placed Angola and two points richer than Central African Republic who occupy the third spot in the table.
