A 30-year-old mason has allegedly killed his two-week-old baby, his girlfriend, and his four-year-old stepson at Asuoso in the Offinso North District of the Ashanti Region.
The suspect, who has been identified as Shadrack but is popularly known as Kwaata, murdered his girlfriend, 25-year-old Portia Yerebe, and later poisoned his four-year-old stepson, Nti Joseph, and his two-week-old child.
The sad incident happened on Monday, January 29, 2024.
Information gathered indicates that the mother of Portia Yerebe visited her daughter, who lived with her boyfriend Shadrack, to bathe the newborn but realized their room was locked.
She left and later returned in the evening to check on them, only to find the room still locked.
Sensing danger, the mother informed some opinion leaders in the community and broke into the room.
Upon breaking into the room, the opinion leaders saw the lifeless bodies of the three deceased persons and immediately informed the police.
The bruises on the body of Portia indicated that Kwaata might have killed her with a sharp object as her body was seen with severe cuts on the neck and blood oozing from the cut.
The two children were also seen with foam on their mouths, raising poisoning suspicions.
The suspect is currently on the run while police have conveyed the bodies to a morgue for autopsy and preservation.
