The Ofaakor Circuit Court has remanded three suspects into police custody for allegedly setting a TV repairer ablaze in October 2021.
The three are Kwame Teiku Baah Mensah, 47; Vernice Kyeremeh, 33; and Rose Cobbah.
The accused persons allegedly went to the house of the deceased, Francis Dawson, at Fiifi Pratt, a suburb of Gomoa Nyanyano in the Central Region, under the guise of taking him to a police station in Nyanyano Kakraba over a complaint filed against him.
They, however, made a detour and ended up at an uncompleted house where they set him ablaze.
The wife of the deceased and other family members who searched for Mr Dawson at Nyanyano Police Station was left disappointed when the police denied knowledge of any arrest or complaint.
Further investigations by the police led to the recovery of the body in the uncompleted building.
The deceased’s wife recognised the husband by the shirt he wore the previous night after visiting the crime scene.
According to the police, they had been tracking the suspects before they were apprehended at their hideout in Berekum in the Bono Region.
Items retrieved from the suspects included 53 passports, dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, nine assorted mobile phones, different SIM cards, and other travelling documents.
They are to reappear in court on Thursday, 17 March 2022.
