Afia Schwarzenegger endorses Akufo-Addo
A social media influencer, Valentina Nana Afia Agyeiwaa, popularly known ‘Afia Schwarzenegger’ has endorsed the president for a second term on the strength of his educational policy, free SHS.
By the endorsement, the ardent supporter of Akufo-Addo’s political rival, John Mahama, has announced she has turned her back on the 2020 NDC presidential candidate.
In a video posted on social media, the fun-loving actress said while John Mahama was her wish for a president, the incumbent, Nana Akufo-Addo has surpassed expectations.
She mentioned the most popular of the Akufo-Addo government’s achievement, free SHS which has removed financial barriers to high school education.
The policy, in its three year of implementation, has saved parents an estimated 2.2 billion cedis, according to the Finance Ministry.
At least 90,000 students have been saved from a truncated education in the previous cash-for-class system.
“My children have benefitted,” Afia Schwarzenegger said and urged Ghanaians to vote for Akufo-Addo “for the sake of our children’s future.”
“Let him continue,” she spoke in Twi.
Afia Schwarzenegger also listed other freebies given out by the government in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic such as the reprieve from paying water bills for three months and slashes in electricity bills.
The TV comedian, who once called Mahama ‘irreplaceable’ has now, asked Ghanaians to place their faith in Akufo-Addo come December 2020.
