Alan Gave Me ‘Broken Heart’ – JFK

General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has said that the resignation of the former NPP presidential aspirant John Alan Kyerematen left him disappointed because Alan was one of the ministers who helped him during his bid to become general secretary.

According to him, he would have intervened if Mr Kyeremanten had informed the party about his decision to resign from the party before going public.

Mr Kodua explained that Mr Kyerematen had been a pillar to the party and many members, including himself.

“Cash, the man (Alan), has been a key player in our party, and no one can dispute that. Honestly, he was one of the key ministers who held and supported me in my quest for the general secretary position, and it is not only me he has helped but a lot. So, for such a person to resign from the party should tell you we have lost a great personality,” he said.

He explained that a press conference held by the NPP and response to the resignation was not to fight back but to set the records straight on some allegations that were made against the party by Mr Kyerematen.

Mr Kyerematen resigned from the party earlier this week over what he described as “unfair treatment” in the NPP super delegates election.

Mr Kyerematen announced his decision in a press conference on Monday, September 25.

“I wish to use this platform to announce that I am honourably resigning with immediate effect from the New Patriotic Party to contest for the high office of the President of the Republic of Ghana in the 2024 General Elections as an Independent Presidential Candidate,” he said.

Mr Kyerematen stated that his intention to go independent will allow him to lead a new movement for change in Ghana that will benefit the citizens, especially the youth.

“To actualise this goal, I will establish and lead a new MOVEMENT FOR CHANGE in Ghana. The brand logo for the MOVEMENT is the Monarch Butterfly, which politically symbolises change and transformation, hope, and positivity. It also communicates strength, endurance, spirituality, and trust, which are key traits that I cherish as a Political Leader. In Akan, it is known as Afrafranto. The brand motto of the MOVEMENT is “Ghana Will Rise Again,” which symbolises hope for the future of Ghana”.
