Patrick Kumor, a former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Weija-Gbawe in the Greater Accra Region, has passed on after a short illness.
He was among the 25 MCEs whose appointments were recently revoked by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Mr. Michael Danquah succeeded Mr. Kumor in his position.
During his tenure, Mr. Kumor initiated numerous projects within the municipality.
In December 2022, Mr Kumor was awarded the UCIA 2022 Dynamic Achievers Award for Excellence in Leadership.
The award was presented to Kumor at the British Council Hall by the Global Executive College (GEC).
The news on the death of the former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Weija-Gbawe comes at the time the people of Krachi East in the Oti Region are also mourning the demise of their incumbent MCE, Mr Bernard Aboakogya Mensah.
Mr. Mensah died on Friday, April 5, 2024.
It is reported that the MCE fell unconscious while speaking at a matriculation programme at the Dambai College of Education, after which he was rushed to the Worawora Government Hospital.
Unfortunately, he passed out en route to the hospital.
Mr. Mensah was appointed as the MCE for Krachi East by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2023 following the passing of Francis Kofi Okesu, who was found dead in a hotel room in Kumasi in September 2022.
It will be recalled that in 2023, the majority of assembly members welcomed his appointment and expressed their willingness to work together in the interest of the Krachi East Municipality.
At that time, Mr Joshua Gmayenaam Makubu, the Oti Regional Minister, indicated that the 100 per cent confirmation by the MCE to serve his members was a clear indication of support for the task ahead.
