A police officer and a Senior high school student have died after an articulated truck knocked down their motorbike along the Kumasi-Accra highway, near Suhum in the Eastern Region.
The tragic accident occurred on Thursday, November 9, 2023.
The DAF XF Articulated Tanker Truck with registration number GN 932-20 that was en route from Kumasi to Tema, slammed into an unregistered Haojue motorcycle.
The motorcycle had a rider and two pillion riders; 38-year-old personnel of the Suhum District Police, and a 20-year-old student of Suhum Presby Secondary Technical School.
According to eyewitnesses, the impact of the collision resulted in life-threatening injuries to the three victims.
They were immediately rushed to the Suhum Government Hospital but the two pillion riders were declared dead.
Bodies of the deceased have been moved to the hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The motor rider is, however, alive and receiving treatment at the hospital.
Meanwhile, the driver of the truck is currently in police custody helping with the ongoing investigations..
