John Ato, believed to be in his thirties has allegedly butchered his wife to death at Dunkwa-Mfuom in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality in the Central Region.
It is reported that the couple were living harmoniously until the wife, believed to be in her thirties as well, threatened to divorce the husband following the demise of their baby.
Her decision, according to residents, sparked tension in their relationship which later led to her untimely death.
The deceased had two children prior to getting married to the suspect.
According to residents, the children of the deceased reported the incident to those in the vicinity.
However, upon reaching the scene, they realised the door was locked but forced it open to find the woman in a pool of blood.
The suspect, after allegedly committing the atrocious crime attempted suicide by hanging but was rescued by the neighbours who handed him over to the police.
He is currently at the Dunkwa Offin Government Hospital receiving treatment whilst the remains of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue.
