CAF Champions League: T&A Park construction delays forces Medeama to settle on Cape Coast Stadium as home venue
Ghana champions Medeama are set to submit the Cape Coast Stadium as their home venue to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for their CAF Champions League matches.
This choice comes after the club’s initial plan to use T and A Park in Tarkwa fell through due to ongoing construction delays.
Cape Coast Stadium, located in the Central Region of Ghana, has a proven track record of successfully hosting numerous international games, including matches featuring the national team, the Black Stars.
As a result, it is expected that CAF will grant approval for Medeama to use the venue.
The decision by Medeama to opt for Cape Coast Stadium did not come as a surprise, as club President Moses Armah Parker had alluded to this possibility earlier.
“We will represent Ghana in Africa. We are determined to break the jinx, and that is our plan. We have yet to decide where we will play our games. We have approached Gold Fields Ghana Limited to assist in completing the stadium,” he disclosed on Asempa FM.
He further explained, “The entire community is eager to support the completion of the stadium, but if we are unable to finish it in time, our next choice will be the Cape Coast Stadium. However, the people of Tarkwa want us to play our games there. Gold Fields has already invested a significant amount of money in the club and they are committed to helping us complete the stadium on schedule.”
