The body of a third victim of the drowning disaster in the Subri River involving three first-year students of Daboase Senior High and Technical School has been retrieved.
Richard Baidoo was among seven students who defied school rules and went swimming in the Subri River.
The victims, all first-year students, snuck out from their dormitory to swim in the Subri River, which had overflown its banks due to the constant rains on Saturday, June 23, 2023.
Bodies of two of the victims, Christian Dennis Acquah and Lesley Nana Yaw Ampong, were retrieved on the same day by a combined team of police and fire personnel.
The search team continued their efforts the next day but could not find the third victim.
Libation and other traditional rites were performed on Monday morning and soon afterward, the third victim was found at exactly 10:44 am, fire personnel confirmed to the media.
According to the DCE for Wassa East, Emmanuel Boakye, the bodies have been deposited at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital Morgue whilst the parents of these students have been informed.
