Defender Fatawu Hamidu leaves Black Stars camp to join Medeama ahead of DC United clash

The Ghana Football Association has granted Medeama’s request by releasing defender Abdul Fatawu Hamidu for their game against DC United.

The Yellow and Mauves has already arrived in the United States for the game against Major League Soccer side, DC United.

The Ghanaian champions face DC United as part of activities to celebrate Ghana Week 2023.

The match dubbed as the Capital City Cup will be played at the Audi Field in Washington DC on October 14, 2023.

Medeama encountered numerous challenges prior to their departure as four key players were denied visas by the American Embassy.

However, the CAF Champions League campaigner wrote to the FA and requested for the release of their defender for the game against DC United.

And according to Henry Asante Twum, who is the spokesperson of the Ghana FA, the player has been released to join Medeama.

“Medeama are in Washington as Ghanaian champions to play DC United and because of the challenges they had with visa acquisition, the club has pleaded with the FA to release Fatawu Hamidu for the game. He will rejoin the Black Stars after their game against DC United” he said.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars will take on Mexico at the Bank of America stadium – Charlotte on Saturday, October 14 before engaging the United States of America on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 in Nashville Tennessee.
