Family head arrested for butchering man over land

A family head identified as Teacher Arkoh at Enyan Obontser in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region has been arrested for butchering a 45-year-old man over land.

The suspect, Teacher Arkoh, and his nephew are said to have attacked and butchered the victim while on his farm without asking him any questions.

It is reported that the victim was then rushed to the Abaasa Health Centre for treatment and a report was filed at the Police station.

The Police swiftly commenced an investigation and succeeded in arresting Teacher Arkoh.

A search has however been mounted for his nephew who is on the run.

Meanwhile, residents say they are now living in fear and panic as this is not the first time such an incident has happened in the Enyan Obontser Community.

They recall that someone was killed over land last year (2022), hence calling on the Police Service to strengthen security in the area.

Meanwhile, a man identified as Isaac Newton Kumah, accused of killing his 25-year-old wife at Nungua, is in the grips of police.

He allegedly butchered his wife, Eunice Ameh Narh, after she filed for a divorce. The suspect is alleged to have inflicted cutlass wounds on his wife’s stepfather.

The suspect was arraigned before the Teshie-Nungua District court on Wednesday, May 3, on charges of murder and causing unlawful harm.

Appearing before the court, he pleaded not guilty to the second charge of causing unlawful harm to the deceased’s stepfather.

However, his plea for the murder was not taken as the court lacks jurisdiction over such matters.

He is to reappear in court on May 22, 2023.
