A 62-year-old fetish priest, Solomon Mbalegon, has committed suicide after allegedly killing his 25-year-old wife at Yeji in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region.
According to the Assembly member for the area, Yussif Sulemana, Solomon had accused his wife of having extramarital affairs with other men in the area, resulting in a misunderstanding between the married couple.
Narrating the incident, Mr Sulemana said Solomon stabbed the woman to death in the heat of the argument.
After realising what he had done, he also stabbed himself with the same knife, leading to his death.
Meanwhile, the Yeji police have begun investigating the matter after depositing the bodies at the St. Mathias Catholic Hospital at Yeji.
This comes a few weeks after another fetish priest committed suicide after shooting his girlfriend over sexual intimacy disputes at Ejisu-Juaben in the Ashanti Region.
The incident happened on Saturday, August 19, 2023.
The fetish priest, Akwasi Antwi, reportedly used a single-barrel gun to shoot his girlfriend, Ama Attah, at close range.
Close sources disclosed that Antwi started complaining that his girlfriend was denying him sex; hence, he began suspecting her of cheating on him in the relationship.
During one of their arguments, he shot Ama in the rib and fled the scene.
The sound of the gunshot drew the attention of some residents, who attempted to apprehend and disarm Antwi but to no avail.
The fetish priest then fled to a nearby bush, reportedly committing suicide.
Ama Attah, however, survived the gunshot.
