Former NPP parliamentary candidate resigns over ‘unfair treatment’

The 2020 New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Sege, Eunice Lasi, has officially resigned from the party.

In a letter to the NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua, Ms Lasi cited unfair treatment and setbacks since her decision to contest various positions within the party.

“It is of Good intentions. I wanted to serve my beloved party and my constituency but have had lots of setbacks which I would no longer want to endure. I have not been treated fairly ever since I decided to contest in the Sege constituency on the party’s ticket,” she said.

She conveyed her good intentions to serve the party and her constituency but emphasized that the numerous challenges led her to step down.

The 2020 Sege parliamentary candidate further alleged deliberate attempts to sabotage her political ambitions, resulting in multiple failures.

According to her, despite several efforts to seek redress by writing letters to the presidency, there was no positive response.

Her resignation follows an indefinite suspension in June 2023 for misconduct, with the party citing her “insulting outburst on social media, specifically shared on various WhatsApp platforms in the constituency” as the reason behind the decision.

Below is the letter to that effect.
