Ghana FA wins court case against AshantiGold SC

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has won their legal battle against AshantiGold SC at the Human Rights Court in Accra.

The former Premier League club dragged the GFA to the Human Rights Court in Accra challenging their relegation to Division Two following their conviction for match manipulation by the Disciplinary Committee.

The Obuasi-based club were hoping that the court would overturn their demotion and compel the country’s football governing body to provide them with a fair hearing.

At the 29th GFA Congress held in Kumasi on Monday, 10th July, it was decided that Ashantigold would remain suspended from participating in Ghana football, a decision which intensified the club’s determination to seek justice through the legal system.

After a long-standing battle, the Human Rights Court in Accra has today, October 11 ruled the case in favour of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) which means AshantiGold will remain suspended from all football-related activities.
