Hearts of Oak set to part ways with 13 players – Reports

Source The Ghana Report

Ghana Premier League club, Hearts of Oak is expected to part ways with 13 players following a disappointing season, according to local media reports.

The team has endured a difficult 2022/23 campaign that has seen them struggle to avoid relegation on the final day of the season. The woes of the club have worsened as they have lost six in their last seven games in the Ghanaian top flight.

A chunk of the Hearts of Oak players have been in dismal form this campaign and the club is ready to offload such players before the start of the new season.

According to reports, the hierarchy of the club has decided to part company with some players as they seek to build a formidable side for the 2023/24 football season.

The attacking duo of Kwadwo Obeng Jnr and Isaac Mensah are said to be on their way out of the club. Their contracts will not be renewed by the 2004 CAF Confederations Cup winners.

Both Kwadwo Obeng Jr and Isaac Mensah have experienced a significant dip in form this season compared to their previous campaigns.

Meanwhile, the club is on the verge of losing key defender Caleb Amankwah at the end of the season.

Amankwah, who joined the Phobians from Aduana Stars in 2021 will see his current contract elapse in the coming days.

According to reports, there have not been talks for a contract extension, hence the possibility of Caleb Amankwah’s departure this summer.

The 25-year-old is said to be seeking for a new challenge after almost a three-year stint in the capital.
