‘I didn’t miss the penalty deliberately’ – Eleven Wonders’ Zakaria Osman issues apology

Eleven Wonders striker, Zakaria Osman, has apologized to his teammates and fans of the club for his missed penalty during the club’s Division One League Zone 1 playoff final defeat to Bofoakwa Tano at Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday.

The intense match ended in a 1-1 draw, leading to a high-stakes penalty shootout to determine the victor.

Zakaria had the golden opportunity to secure victory for Wonders and book their return to the Ghana Premier League.

However, his penalty kick was saved, prompting mixed reactions from spectators. The execution of his kick, characterized by an extensive run-up and a feeble effort easily saved by the goalkeeper, left many disappointed.

In his first interview since the match, Zakaria spoke out and sought forgiveness from the fans of Eleven Wonders and the entire Bono Region.

He adamantly denied any intention to intentionally miss the penalty and pleaded for understanding.

“I would never deliberately miss that penalty. I appeal to the fans of Eleven Wonders and the entire Bono Region to forgive me. I can’t even recall the last time I missed a penalty,” Zakaria explained to Akoma FM.

Zakaria’s missed penalty proved to be a decisive moment in the playoff, ultimately allowing Bofoakwa Tano to claim victory and secure their promotion to the Ghana Premier League.
