I had fibroid – Adina shares her experience
Ghanaian-South African singer and model, Adina Thembi Ndamse
says she had fibroids and had to undergo a myomectomy.
“Exactly two weeks ago I checked in at the Tema Women’s Hospital to undergo surgery to have fibroids removed,” she said in a video posted on her Facebook page.
Myomectomy is a surgery to remove fibroids without taking out the healthy tissue of the uterus.
The 32-year-old did not say much about the aftermath of the surgery but assured her fans, she was having a “smooth road to recovery “.
Fibroids are non-cancerous growths in the uterus that can develop during a woman’s childbearing years.
The cause of fibroids is not well understood. Risk factors include a family history of fibroids, obesity or early onset of puberty.
