Inaki Williams offers support to brother after being racially abused

Racism has been a bane of European football clubs and football governing body, UEFA and FIFA are struggling to deal with on daily basis.

On Sunday, Spanish international of Ghanaian root Nico Williams was racially abused while sin action for Athletic Bilbao against Atletico Madrid.

The winger attempted to draw the referee’s attention to the alleged chanting, signaling for play to be halted.

Atletico players Antoine Griezmann and Jose Maria Gimenez were seen urging the home fans to cease chanting before the game resumed.

Despite the chants, Nico Williams went on to score against Atletico Madrid in the Spanish La Liga game, but Atletico ultimately secured a 3-1 victory with goals from Angel Correa and an own goal from Athletic goalkeeper Unai Simon.

However, Inaki Williams has taken to social media to support his junior brother amid racial abuse.

“Say no to Racism. Black is Black” he wrote on Instagram sighted by Footballghana.com.

Racism is rife in European football but it appears governing bodies have not made firm efforts to stump it out by giving out stiffer punishment to offenders and clubs whose fans are caught is such canker.
