Kaywa: Secular music is not worldly

Popular Ghanaian music producer, Kaywa is asking people not to liken secular music to worldly music since they are not the same.

According to the artiste who has worked with a number of gospel and secular artistes, the two are different but unfortunately, musicians who don’t do gospel music are labelled wordly when that shouldn’t be the case.

Speaking on Joy Prime’s Celeb Biz Show, Kaywa, real name David Kojo Kyei noted that the Bible only speaks strongly against worldly music but not secular music.

“We must understand that secular music is not wrong. Secular and worldly are two different conversations to have. Worldly is what God frowns on. An example is an artiste who always uses vulgar words. Secular songs, on the other hand, are love songs that can be spirit-filled.

“So instead of trying to open up and expose secular and worldly musicians as people who are not from God, we should rather mirror the good ones and leave the bad ones behind,” he explained.

Kaywa explained that the lack of understanding of the two has perhaps, encouraged some gospel musicians to shun away from collaborating with their colleagues on the other side.

He believes that Christians have been mandated by God to properly define love and extend it to others as well, encouraging gospel artistes to do collaborations with secular artistes since that is the way to go.
