Mahama leads NDC delegation to condole with former President Kufuor

Former President John Dramani Mahama, on Wednesday, October 4, led a delegation to condole with former President John Agyekum Kufuor following the passing of his wife.

The former president was accompanied by his wife, former First Lady Lordina Mahama, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia and other party stalwarts.

During the visit, Mr. Mahama reflected on the dignified and revered personality of the late First Lady, fondly known as the “mother of the Nation” during her tenure.

According to the former president and Flagbearer of the NDC, the late Theresa’s grace and presence had earned her this endearing mother of the nation title among the Ghanaian populace.

He also used the opportunity to sign the book of condolence opened in honour of the late Theresa Kufuor.

Theresa Kufuor died on Sunday, October 1, at her home in Peduase, surrounded by her family.

She was 87 years old.

The late Theresa Kufuor had a distinguished career as a nurse and midwife.

Her education journey began at the Catholic Convent, OLA, in Keta, Volta Region, Ghana.

She later pursued nursing studies in London, becoming a Registered General Nurse within the Southern Hospital Group of Nursing in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Her commitment to healthcare extended to midwifery, and she continued her studies at the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford and Paddington General Hospital in London, ultimately becoming a State Certified Midwife with a Certificate in Premature Nursing.
