Man in coma after mob attack at Assin Adiembra

A man believed to be in his late 30s, identified as Yaw Osei, has been rushed to the St. Francis Xavier Hospital at Assin Fosu following an attack by some youth who go about in search of things to steal or people to attack.

According to reports, the victim is yet to recover from a coma since Tuesday after the attack.

It is reported that Yaw Osei had an altercation with the sister of one of the suspects who assaulted him.

During the altercation between the two,  suspect Kofi Acquah and one other person called Andrews, who was passing by at the time and noticing the argument between his sister and the victim pounced on him and held his throat for over 30 minutes.

“He had wanted to kill him,” an eyewitness said.

The victim who is battling for his life is reported to have been also attacked with a stick. Currently, he cannot swallow anything food, not even saliva.

Meanwhile, some members of the family of the victim believe the attack was borne out of the prolonged chieftaincy disputes in the town since the attackers belong to one of the factions.

They also appealed to the police to intensify security in the area since some of the youth are trooping the town with offensive weapons, and that could potentially be used in the event of community violence.

It is reported that the police have commenced investigations into the situation.
