Former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Ghana Armed Forces, Brigadier General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah believes the time is right for the commencement of a new movement to change the status quo and make Ghana the country it ought to be.

According to the retired General, the country needs a force which will take into consideration the genuine needs of the people and act in the best interest of the citizenry.

General Nunoo Mensah is convinced the two leading political parties in Ghana today, the governing New Patriotic Party and the opposition National Democratic Congress have failed to address the genuine concerns of the populace all these years.

“Ghanaians are tired, most especially the youth. The two parties are not running Ghana properly, hence the need for this new movement, ” he said to The Ghana Report‘s Gloria Kafui Ahiable in an interview.

“We need people who are smart, people who have the vision. Look at all the problems currently going on in the country; people are losing their means of livelihood, there’s one corruption scandal every day. The country is sick, we need a new crop of people and as I speak to you now, we are forming that new movement,” he stated.

Asking whether he will be the leader of the new movement or party, he said he will play an integral role in this new movement.

“Myself and the other members are people who have the interest of Ghana at heart and most importantly, people who want to leave a lasting legacy. We are old so we are not fighting for ourselves but for the future generation because where we are now is very bad. Everybody is frustrated and angry, ” he lamented.
