NPP delegate arrested for taking photos of his ballot paper

A delegate has been arrested by the police for taking photos of his ballot paper after during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries on Saturday.

Eric Agyapong Aboagye voted in Takoradi on June 20 and was quickly handcuffed and taken to the Takoradi Central Police Station after snapping the ballot before dropping it into the box.

The voting process to elect 168 candidates for the NPP is supposed to a secret and delegates are barred from displaying whom they voted for.

Member of Parliament for Effia Constituency, Joseph Cudjoe, later proceeded to bail the delegate, describing the arrest as unnecessary.
