Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu is an institution – Afenyo-Markin eulogizes predecessor

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the current Majority Leader of Parliament has expressed admiration for the good works of his predecessor Mr. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.

Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, officially announced his resignation as the Majority Leader of Parliament.

Following Osei-Kyei-Mensah’s resignation, the National Council of the New Patriotic Party on Friday, February 23, 2024, officially confirmed the leadership title of Majority Leader on Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Member of Parliament for Effutu constituency.

In Afenyo-Markin’s inaugural address in Parliament, he described his predecessor as knowledgeable, experienced, and an institution entirely he has to study to be accustomed to his leadership style.

Moreover, Afenyo-Markin indicated that the outgoing leader is a “big shoe” he must wear due to his insight into parliamentary affairs.

He also assured the House of continuing the good works of his predecessor by ensuring that the voice of the Majority Caucus is heard on all debatable issues.

Meanwhile, Mr. Afenyo-Markin has called upon the Minority Caucus in Parliament to strengthen its bipartisan efforts with the Majority Caucus, emphasizing the mutual benefits such collaboration can yield.
