Prof. PLO Lumumba Speaks To Power From Ghana

A Ghanaian public, largely alerted to the visit by prof PLO Lumumba on GhanaReport,
engaged the actual visit with remarkable interest. The media doorstepped the renowned and fearless Kenyan human rights activist each step of the way.

His past speeches providing the material background for the line of questioning at a news briefing in Accra, the Pan-Africanist seized the moment to speak into the eyes of African leaders, on what he called the bitter truth. This was the umpteenth time from him, but remained a lone voice on the wider plane. The continent, which is beautifully labelled with democracy, has most of its population wallowing in untold hardships, he said.

He considers political sloganeering, as the reason for baseless applause and latitude to get away with pretense and complete slumber. The people who are being shortchanged in this bizarre circumstances are unable to express themselves to obtain the full value of governance, because they feel intimidated by the very system put in place to serve them.

Whilst vouching trade which is mutually beneficial, Lumumba said, the subjugation which characterized colonialism has returned in the form of a scramble for Africa by foreign investors who press for larger share of deals at the expense of African countries.To him, increasingly, investment has only become the pretext for scooping from Africa. To wit, he nudged African leaders into the réalisation that, there are more they can selflessly do from within toward a sufficiency.

When they meet in Addis Ababa, they must ask themselves these questions. What is wrong with us, what can we do about it and within which period can we find solutions ?
