Stepfather Inflicts cutlass wounds on 16-year-old after impregnating her

A 16-year-old pregnant girl, whose identity is being withheld, is reportedly fighting for her life at Kasoa Mother and Child Hospital after her stepfather inflicted machete wounds on her.

It is alleged that her stepfather, Stephen Essel, impregnated her, and when she confronted him to seek a safe abortion, he inflicted cutlass wounds on her.

The unfortunate incident took place at Kasoa Ofaakor in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.

According to the victim, her stepfather tried to give her drugs for an illegal abortion, but she refused and insisted on a legal abortion instead.  She then threatened to tell her mother.

The teenager claimed that when she confronted her stepfather a second time, he flew into a rage and struck her with a  pestle, and inflicted cutlass wounds on her.

The victim has been admitted to the Kasoa Mother and Child Hospital  and is currently undergoing medical attention.

Kasoa Ofaakor District Police are handling this case.  The suspect is yet to be arrested.
