Teenager Allegedly Brutalised By Fire Officers Over GH₵30

Fire Service personnel have reportedly brutalized a 17-year-old boy, identified as Kwabena Amos, for selling maize belonging to his father for GH₵30 and using the money to buy footwear.

Information gathered indicates that Amos is battling for his life at Salamkrom near Donkro Nkwanta in the Nkoranza South Municipality of the Bono East region.

The incident is reported to have happened about two weeks ago.

Amos’ father allegedly reported the incident to some people in the area who were identified as fire officers, who subjected Amos to severe beatings.

According to a report on Adom News monitored by The Ghana Report, the victim sustained deep wounds on his back and other parts of his body. As punishment, his father refused to take him to the hospital for medical care.

“The wounds on his back have deteriorated and the boy is suffering” according to an eyewitness.

According to close sources, a Good Samaritan touched by the plight of the young boy offered to take him to the hospital.

It is reported that the attention of police in Nkoranza has been drawn to the incident, but no arrest has been made.

Assemblyman for the area, Sanguru Peter, confirmed the report but said he is yet to receive the full details.

Meanwhile, Amos is currently receiving treatment at Armdfred Hospital in Nkoranaza through the intervention of a concerned resident.
