Top FIFA officials arrive in Tamale ahead of GFA Elective Congress
In a key step toward guaranteeing a smooth transition of power within the Ghana Football Association (GFA), top FIFA officials have arrived in Tamale, kicking off the much-anticipated 2023 GFA Elective Congress.
Director of Member Associations for Africa at FIFA, Gelson Fernandes has arrived in Tamale for the GFA Elective congress on Thursday.
The former Swiss International is in the company of Silmara Sousa, Development Program Coordinator, FIFA Member Associations Africa and Ahmed Harraz, Senior Manager FIFA Member Associations Governance Services, FIFA Member Association Governance.
The trio who arrived in Accra on Tuesday, touched down in Tamale Wednesday morning ahead of the congress on Thursday.
The Ghana Football Association has temporarily relocated its Secretariat to the capital of the Northern Region for the Presidential and Executive Council Elections scheduled for Thursday, October 5, 2023.
The move is to ensure that all facilities and logistics are in place for a successful election this week.
