Tread Carefully Here

1. Wayside Mechanics: A client sends a car to the mechanic shop for little repairs. The risk is that, when you left the vehicle with them, you return to hear a whole lot of phony stories. These include claims of damage to other major parts in your car engine with demands for more money to fix them. The star act of thievery is that the converter in your car is criminally removed, and the unsuspecting car owner victim realizes the missing part of the car all too late. Invariably, the theft charges are denied by defiant mechanics.

2. Wayside Phone Repairers:  Beware if you hand over your phone to a repairer for repairs. Their main acts of thievery are improvisation of the faulty part and will charge a fee for that which they did not buy, as well as replace your original battery with a fake one. It is prudent to remove the original battery in the phone or mark it for identification ahead of the repairs.

3.   Have you ever bought a wayside food and then when about to consume it you discovered that the meat on the food is just too bony, rotten, or looks like a part that is non-existent in the animal?  The wrong meat is soaked in the stew or the soup to disguise its physical repugnance.

4. Those fond of buying items from hawkers parading in vehicular traffic may have to open their eyes widely. If you are in a vehicle that is likely to move away, notice the delay in giving change on your money, or check whether you have not been given a rotten or a fake commodity within the vast array of petty miscellaneous items.

5. Look out for marketers, in most cases in fine apparel, representing and seeking to sell a company product to you. In the case of financial loans, make sure you follow every detail of the transaction, asking questions especially when a loan is being absorbed by one institution from the other, to obtain the difference for your pocket. There have been instances where processes were shelved, only for clients/customers to realize that charges on the transaction had taken everything whilst the customer is burdened with an even higher loan amount on empty hands.

6.   Wayside repairers of electrical and electronic devices. As a client, you either stay in the shop of the repairer to observe how your device is attended to or risk everything, at the heart of it is the removal of genuine parts that are scarce to find in wholesale and retail shops in the system.

7. Never bring a prospective buyer of an item you are selling to your house or your car (in case it is in the boot) for examination in the anticipation of a purchase. Chances are that actual purchases will not take place but they will plan an attack on you to rob you of the item.

8. Note that it is not for nothing for which vehicle spare parts dealers especially would sell to you with just a one-week warranty, after which the paid item cannot be returned. If you are not given enough time to test the car part to accept or reject it, know that you are being swindled.

9. In the streets, be conscious that the female commercial sex worker is into commerce and needs money. As a decent man, do not stop and talk to them or you will laugh at the wrong side of your mouth. If you decided not to have anything to do with them after offering brief attention, you will be ambushed by her bodyguards who will demand payment for wasting her time for a no-show.

10.   Enter the internet with considerable caution, particularly the social media handles where some criminals and social misfits are hiding to pounce on you if you fell into their traps. They will lure you, indulge you in deals, and dupe you. This pertains more to relationships between the opposite sex and travel opportunities.

It must be stated that there are a good number of honest people plying various transactions and activities which bodes well for clients. It all depends on who you come across in your search for solutions in Ghana.
