West Mamprusi: Two suspected armed robbers lynched

Two suspected armed robbers were on Sunday (1 January 2023) beaten to death by residents of Sayoo in the West Mamprusi Municipality, local authorities have confirmed.

According to eyewitnesses, two other suspected accomplices escaped after they attacked a passenger bus.

The bus, with registration number AC-393-22, is said to have been traveling from Bawku in the Upper East Region to Accra when it was attacked.

The driver, according to passengers, sustained minor injuries after the robbers fired into the bus leaving the conductor in a critical condition at the Walewale Government Hospital.

Unconfirmed report said locals went to the robbery scene after hearing of the gunshot and overpowered two of the robbers and lynched them.

Police say one of the robbers died at the scene while the other was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The police are investigating the case. .
