We’ve secured additional capacity to boost internet connectivity – MTN

Leading telecommunications company MTN Ghana has announced more operational capacity from its international partners to improve internet connectivity for customers.

According to the firm, this measure has boosted internet connectivity in the wake of disruptions caused by submarine fibre optic cable cuts in the high seas.

Ghanaians have since March 14, 2024, experienced disruption in internet connectivity, a situation that has affected individuals, businesses, and public institutions.

Four out of the five undersea cables that connect to Ghana were affected, leading to a major internet blackout.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Communications and Digitalization, Mrs. Ursula Owusu Ekuful, will appear before Parliament today, Monday, March 18, to brief the House on measures being taken by the government to resolve the current internet challenges in the country.

In a related development, the National Communications Authority (NCA) has announced it will take five weeks to restore smooth internet connectivity.

But MTN Ghana, in its latest update, assured its customers of exploring all options to ease the data challenges currently being experienced.
