Woman, 51, crushed to death after truck runs into traders at Kejetia

A 51-year-old cabbage seller identified as Akua Serwaa has died after a trailer truck ran into pedestrians at Dr. Mensah Market near Kejetia in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region.

The accident is reported to have occurred in the early hours of today, May 4, 2023.

The truck with registration number GT 7452-11, reported to be carrying secondhand clothes, lost its control and run into traders hawking at Dr Mensah Market.

The truck which reportedly failed to brake also crashed into a taxi cab that was parked before running over the woman who was selling by the roadside.

The body of the deceased was mutilated by the truck after the gory accident.

Information gathered indicated that the deceased was a resident of Antoa in the Kwabre East District who usually sells cabbage at Dr. Mensah Market to earn a living.

The mutilated body of the deceased has been deposited at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital’s morgue for preservation.
