A 53-year-old woman allegedly hanged herself at Nyankumase Ahenkro in the Central Region Assin South District.
The deceased, Georgina Acquah, was found with a rope tied to her neck on a cocoa tree near her house on Thursday, 27th July 2023.
Son of the deceased, Emmanuel Acquah, upon seeing his mother hanging on the cocoa tree, quickly informed neighbours about the incident and reported it to the police.
Police then visited the crime scene and retrieved the body.
Narrating the sad ordeal, Emmanuel said he is shocked over his mother’s death as she did not tell him she had any problem.
According to him, he was asleep in the same room with his mother. However, he later realized that she was not in the room. He then went out to search for her, only to find her lifeless body hanging on a cocoa tree.
She was then taken to Abura Dunkwa Government Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The body has been kept at the morgue of the same hospital for further investigation and preservation.
