Avoid Mali’s Gao and Ansongo regions – Foreign Affairs Ministry cautions Ghanaians

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has advised Ghanaians against travelling to the Gao and Ansongo regions of Northern Mali.
In a press release, the ministry said the decision was a result of a recent security threat along the major highways linking Mali and Niger, particularly the Gao and Ansongo areas.
The ministry noted that there have been reports of terrorists harassing commuters who use the routes.
“The Ministry remains committed to the safety of Ghanaians and will provide updates on the security situation in the region under reference in due course,” the statement read.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry further urged the general public to prioritise their safety when travelling.
