The lifeless body of a newborn baby has been found on a public refuse site at Enyan-maim in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region.
The discovery of the dead baby has sparked anger among residents in the Enyan-Maim community.
The baby was found when some dogs exhumed the body and tried to eat her.
Some residents of the peaceful community were dumping garbage at the refuse dump site when one of them spotted dogs attempting to chew something which appeared to be a baby.
His curiosity got him closer to the scene, only to have his suspicion confirmed that it was a newborn baby.
He then drove the dogs away.
Reports indicate that the baby still had the umbilical cord attached.
What might have influenced the persons behind the horrific act was not readily known. Still, some community members suspect that the child’s mother intentionally dumped her on the rubbish site.
The matter was reported to the police, and the body was retrieved from the dumping site.
The community members later buried the baby properly after libation was poured to appease the gods of the land over the abominable act and purify the land.
Meanwhile, a police source noted that investigations were underway to find the person who dumped the baby at the refuse dump.
