Erik ten Hag hails ‘development’ of Diogo Dalot

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has hailed the improvements Diogo Dalot has made to his game following a brilliant performance on Sunday.

The full-back was in inspired form in the 1-0 win over West Ham, particularly from a defensive perspective, and is now firmly the Red Devils’ first choice right-back – a far to last season when he spent the year out on loan at AC Milan.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the 1-0 win over the Hammers at Old Trafford, ten Hag made a point of praising the Portuguese international:

“I’m really happy with the development of Diogo [Dalot]. His defensive positioning is growing from game to game, his time, also duals, are better from game to game and in possession I think he’s really good.

“He has the breath [cardio] to go up and down [the flank] so the development is really good, but I have to mention, I think a club like Man Utd need two good full-backs because we have a lot of games to cover.”

Ten Hag also discussed Casemiro’s recent performances for Man Utd, saying: “I think he’s brilliant. You can see why he’s winning five Champions League trophies, why he’s been that long at the absolute top of world football, and you see that in every match, in every training [session].

“I think he will only get better and better, and contribute more and more to the team.”
