Fire cases rise on Christmas Day – GNFS

Source The Ghana Report

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has revealed an increase in fire outbreaks recorded across the country on Christmas Day, December 25, 2022.

In a statement by the GNFS on December 26, 2022, a total of 44 fire incidents were recorded.

“Out of the total fires recorded, 19 were domestic, 9 commercial, 8 bush fires, 5 vehicular, 2 electrical installations fires and 1 crown fire involving a coconut tree.

“The out-on-arrival fire cases recorded were nine,” the statement said.

Tema region recorded the highest with 11 fires, followed by the Ashanti Region with 6 fires and Accra with 5 fires.

Meanwhile, Upper East Region recorded the least with one fire.

However, no fire casualty was recorded.

The management of GNFS expressed worry over the sudden rise in fire incidents despite the intense education before the Christmas festivities.

The service has, therefore, cautioned the public to be extra vigilant by avoiding the burning of bushes and rubbish and other negative practices that largely cause fires.

They, however, assured the public of “concerted efforts to timely respond to all fire and related emergencies”.
